An architectural visualiser (archviz artist) builds photorealistic 3D renders, walkthroughs and virtual-reality experiences of buildings and interiors that haven't been built yet — for real estate marketing, architecture firms and interior designers.
The craft leans heavily on lighting, materials and camera composition rather than animation: a still render has to read as a real photograph, and a walkthrough has to move a camera through a space the way a real client tour would.
Real-time engines (Unreal Engine, Twinmotion) have made same-day interactive walkthroughs standard client deliverables, alongside traditional pre-rendered stills and fly-throughs.
