What you'll make
Grounded in this course's real modules and software — not a placement promise.
Month 1
Finished visual and digital design exercises, a cut and graded short edit, and your first animatic — Term 1 puts a storyboard and a timeline in your hands before it puts a 3D application there.
Month 3
Hard-surface props modelled from reference and lit in V-Ray, with a turntable render you can post. This is where most students first show their work to someone outside the class.
Month 6
A PBR-textured character or environment lit in Arnold, plus your first real animation exercises — weight, overlap and follow-through on a rigged prop.
Month 12
Character setup and animation of your own, cloth and hair simulated in Maya, and the same asset re-authored for real time in Unreal Engine 5. By Term 4 you are choosing a specialisation rather than sampling one.

Most of this catalogue is a software and production craft, not a drawing exam — modelling, compositing, editing, level design and design tools are all taught from first principles. Where a course does lean on drawing (character design, storyboarding), it starts from basic shapes and construction, not raw talent.
MAAC Whitefield opens in October 2026 and does not yet have a placement record of its own — we won't pretend otherwise. What we offer is placement assistance once you graduate, not a guarantee, alongside a curriculum built around real, currently-hired roles.
